Back on My Feet is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of homeless populations by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem. Founded in Philadelphia, PA in 2007 the program has expanded to a total of seven cities (Baltimore, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth and Indianapolis).
Communications and Social Media Internship Description:
The Back on My Feet Marketing & Communication Intern (unpaid) will work alongside the DC Director of Communications and Corporate Relations to assist in the day to day operations of the department.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Plan and write monthly eNewsletter, blogs and other eCommunications
• Draft and distribute news releases, media alerts and other stories
• Media monitoring, media list management and other public relations activities
• Writing projects including letters, flyers, emails, thank yous and reports
• Assist with multiple Facebook and Twitter accounts
• Develop an editorial calendar for social posts
• Research industry trends and best practices
• Track and report on key metrics
• Monitor Back on My Feet Chapter social media and websites for consistency
• Assist in the planning and implementation of Ragnar Relay, National Sneaker Week, United Way & CFC Campaigns, Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk-a-Thon and the BoMF DC Birthday Bash

Qualifications:

• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as with office staff
• Computer skills required: Internet Research, Microsoft Office, CMS experience a plus
• Ability to use personal laptop for internship work
• Interest in running, non-profit experience and community service a plus

Time Commitment:
• 15 hours a week minimum
• Flexible schedule available
